Apple Macbook Pro

Finally, Apple unveils the new Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch 2018, as Apple is always working on making new technology faster and more reliable. Apple held a familiar program Instead of having their very own event like they do for the new iPhone, on Apple’s popular WWDC event. About this quieter launch, it doesn’t mean that Apple isn’t excited about the new MacBook Pro. While MacBooks, iPhones and iPads, are the main regular consumers, they are focusing on the high level of performance and creative design MacBook Pro with a high price tag.

Solid and Creative Design

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch has a very creative design as it has always looked like same which is good and bad. If we see it on the positive side, then some of the great features are like the aluminum design still feels solid, and with the Touch ID button which helps the user to log in and log out with a touch of registerd finger. One good feature is on the top volume there is no sound rich no distortion with speakers.

And on the negative side, Apple look slimmed as other notebook makers but Apple’s machine feels on the heavy side it has more weight than other notebooks which have same dimensions. Another negative side we can consider is the thicker bezels around the display, especially toward the top. Apple should add some more color options to the MacBook Pro like white but still, there are only still two color that is Silver and Space Gray.

When we compare MacBook Pro to other notebooks like Dell XPS 13 is a lot more compact at 12 x 7.9 x 0.46 inches with a lighter weight of 2.65 pounds but at 3.02 pounds and 12 x 8.4 x 0.6 inches, the MacBook Pro 2018 is not as much as easily portable as I would like. Even if we compare it to with the Huawei MateBook X Pro which is more 14-inch of a screen but it’s still lighter than the 13-inch MacBook at 2.9 pounds.

Hardware and Performance

As Apple always give options to their clients for upgrading of hardware according to their choice. The MacBook Pro 2018 version comes with a different verity of prices and configurations, instead of the previous version of the MacBook Pro. The normal version of MacBook Pro comes with a 2.2GHz, Intel Core i7 6-core processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory and 256GB SSD storage, Radeon Pro 555X graphics card for $2,399.

If the user wants to upgrade the processor, speed and display quality then it can be configured to add a 2.9GHz Intel Core i9 6-core processor for $400 more, an upgrade to the AMD Radeon Pro 560X for an additional $100 and 32GB of RAM for $400 more. There is also an option to upgrade the storage to 512GB SSD, 1TB SSD and 2TB SSD for the price of $200, $600 and $1,400 respectively.

Battery Life: Above than Average

With the latest MacBook Pro 2018 offers better battery life than the average. The best thing is the when you browse the web over Wi-Fi then all the pages are stored on a local server which is the best part and not allows Wi-Fi router to import a site from the online server every time. The MacBook Pro has a capacity of 8 Hours and 43 minutes on continuously using Wi-Fi with web suffering which is a bit above the average. The MacBook Pro 2018 has better battery life than Surface Book 2, MateBook X Pro and XPS 13.

Acer Spin 1 Review: Everything You Need to Know

Acer Spin 1 Review and Specs

With 2-in-1 convertibles being in demand, Acer released its newest version of Spin 1(SP111-31) notebook. It is a stylish-looking Hybrid convertible laptop with an extremely affordable price tag. There are lots of 2-in-1s which come under the same price range but as far as the performance is concerned, Acer Spin 1 easily tops the list.

Although Acer Spin 1 doesn’t pack as much power in it but still, it really is one of the most reasonable notebooks that you can buy under this price tag.

Price and Availability:

Acer spin 1 was initially released with the starting price of $329 for 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage. Later on, an updated version with 64GB storage was made available for about $370.  We’d recommend you to buy the 64GB version if you want to install challenging apps or store some personal data like photos or videos on the drive.

Acer spin 1 comes with a Celeron N3350 CPU and an extremely alluring outlook. There is a lack of storage resources, as you may have already noticed but still, it is quite remarkable when compared with other convertibles coming under the same category.

Design and outlook:

Acer spin 1 may be cheap but its aesthetics are quite fascinating. The company had tried their best to make it look as appealing as possible and we have to admit, they did a good job. The colors combination being used is solely meant to attract its user at first sight.

Hinges and the outer shell are covered with blue color and although it is made of plastic, a fabric type pattern gives it a good grip. The blue color on the lid and underside gives it an appealing look. The inside of laptop has a brushy type of texture.

It can be easily taken anywhere easily as it only weighs about 1.5kg and is only about 2cm thick. Hinges are extraordinarily flexible and can make the laptop rest at any position.

Keyboard and Touchpad:

There’s not much that you should expect from a convertible laptop when it comes to keyboard and touchpad as there is hardly enough space to work with.

But still, the designers of Acer Spin 1 managed to come up with a comfortable and responsive design for its keyboard which allows the user to work faster. The buttons are 1.4mm in vertical length and there is no stiffness i.e. the buttons is smooth, sleek and comfortable.

Acer spin 1 comes with 4.1 x 2.3 inches a rectangular shaped touchpad which provides easy navigation and there is no convulsively. It supports multi-touch gestures.

Ports and Connectivity:

Acer Spin 1 may be thin but still provides decent connectivity. On the left side, there is a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port and a micro SD card reader. Isn’t surprising it? You can increase the default storage capacity of your laptop by inserting an SD card in it. On the right side, there is a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It lacks the standard USB-C port but still provides pretty reasonable connectivity. With HDMI port, you can attach a monitor easily or turn your laptop into a TV.

Audio and Webcam:

This is where things get kind of rough for Acer Spin 1 users. Although the audio quality is quite reasonable, it is not loud enough. It can only fill one small room worth of space. But since the quality is good, you can attach other accessories to it like audio amplifiers to get loud enough sound. There is no facility on Acer’s part about the loudness.

The camera is particularly not so good, to be honest. Images and video quality is probably worse than your Smartphone. Images taken are grainy and blurry. But you can’t expect a low budget gadget to have everything in it. So, you’ll just have to deal with it.

Heat Emanation Review:

Users have found Acer Spin 1 to remain cool after considerable use. But we had to test it out for the sake of this review. Generally, the temperature below 100 degrees Fahrenheit after about 20 minutes of use is considered to be reasonable. And guess what? It passed the test.

Screen:

The display of Acer spin 1 is quite fascinating. It comes with an 11.6 inches IPS LCD display. The display quality tops even some of the best and expensive laptops out there. There is no contrast shift i.e. the image quality remains unchanged when tilted to another angle. The colors are bright and you can observe the fine contrast between the colors.

Battery Timing:

Remember when we said, “You can easily take it anywhere you want”? But wait; make sure to bring the charger with it. It lasts for about 7 hours with continuous WiFi surfing. The battery life is kind of an issue here that’s because; at least 8-9 hours of battery timing is being expected from the laptops of this category. 6-8 hours can get you through your work but it is not feasible for traveling purposes.

Performance Review:

Although the processor is not so powerful, Acer spin 1 proved to be a reasonable multi-tasking device. It has an Intel Celeron N3350 dual-core processor, enough for average usage. The base speed of processor was found to be just 1.1 GHz which is kind of slow.

But still, we tried to do some multitasking like surfing the web while running some applications in the background and it worked just fine. There was still kind of a lag for a bit even though we didn’t try out any system toll taking applications.

Acer Spin 1 scored just 1823 scores on the Geek bench 4 which are pretty poor as compared to older convertibles that were also in the competition. If you want to run challenging apps then it really is not the thing for you. It can be used by an average user for average use but that’s just about it (Sorry Gamers).

Final thoughts:

Acer Spin 1 is quite reasonable considering its price. If you want a cheesy and stylish looking convertible in low price then Acer Spin 1 is probably your best choice. Although there are lots of compromises on performance but still it looks great and works very well for the price it comes with.
