Nokia is back again with a big blast to reclaim its place in the market with a new series of various flagship phones. Nokia 8 gained popularity as soon as it was released because of its awesome design and splendid features. It was a huge success. And now, Nokia has recently released the new Nokia 8 sirocco which is the upgraded version and is packed with some pretty impressive features.
Let’s have a look at the basic differences between these two so you can decide which one to go for.
Nokia 8 vs. Nokia Sirocco
Price and Availability comparison:
Nokia 8: $455
Nokia 8 sirocco: $921 (Not Finalized)
Nokia 8 came out on the market in the second half of 2017. It was a massive hit because of its affordable price and decent specs. It is packed with some really mind-blowing features and it is really worth the money. As for the availability, there is no issue whatsoever. It is easily available from every renowned mobile phone retailer. You can directly order it from Nokia as well.
It’s not been very long since Nokia Sirocco was announced. It has only been a few months or so and that’s why its price is not finalized. We can expect changes in the actual price but the rumor has it that it’s probably going to cost you about 921$ which makes about 740 Euros. This is quite reasonable to considering its outstanding features.
Now, let’s compare what both of these phones have in store for you.
Design and outlook:
Nokia 8 comes with a very appealing outlook. 5.3 inches screen, a home button together with a finger-prints sensor adds to the magnificence of the model. It has a metal back, rounded corners and softly curved edges. The surface is too shiny which makes it vulnerable to scratches but as a whole, it’s pretty darn decent.
When it comes to design, Sirocco is quite remarkable. Here’s the best part, you won’t find any metal or plastic being used in it. Instead, the metal casing is replaced by gorilla glass and stainless-steel is being used in the manufacturing process. Although some people say Nokia tried to copy Samsung in terms of the design and outlook and if you have used the latest Samsung models you will find it to be somewhat true. But one thing is for sure, you will find it to be extremely unique and attractive nonetheless.
Although both of these phones are made by Nokia, aesthetically they are entirely different from one another.
Comparing the features and Specifications:
Nokia 8 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Storage capacity can be enhanced up to 256GB thanks to the micro SD slot. The battery capacity of Nokia 8 is 3090mAh.
Nokia Sirocco has an upper hand in that comparison. You get 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage with Nokia 8 sirocco. That’s truly a flagship spec. The battery capacity of Sirocco 8 beefs up to 3260mAH.
There are many similarities in both of these models when it comes to specifications. For example, both of these models come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform. Although there is a new Snapdragon 845 available in the market but since you get pretty decent performance with Snapdragon 835, it is not that big of an issue. Both of the devices support fast charging 3.0 but it can be done wirelessly by Nokia 8 Sirocco. Both of the devices have Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth 5 and dual-band 11ac.
Camera and Display comparison:
Nokia 8 has 5.3 inches Quad HD display which is perfect for use but the bezels at the top and bottom ends make it look a little bit smaller as per the recent standards. This is perfectly acceptable but wait till you hear what Sirocco has in store for you.
Nokia Sirocco comes with a 5.5 inches Quad HD, OLED display. The front screen is almost entirely covered with gorilla glass and the balance between body-to-screen ratios is aesthetically taken care of. We are certainly not implying that Nokia 8’s display is any less but when you compare it with Nokia 8 Sirocco, this type of display kind of feels like a shortcoming.
Now let’s talk about probably the most important part of any Smartphone as described by general consumers. And that is The Camera and its Quality.
Nokia 8 has a dual 13Mp camera which is setup in the main shooter. For the second lens Nokia used a monochromatic sensor which can take pretty decent photos in black and white but when subjected to colors, it may not turn out to be as useful.
Nokia 8 sirocco comes with 13Mp dual-cameras combined with a f/1.75 aperture unit with a F/2.6 telephoto lens respectively at both cameras. You can probably guess how effective it would be for any kind of use. But let’s not come to any conclusions just yet as it just came out. Its camera performance will be quite clear in a few days so let’s wait for now.
There isn’t much difference between these devices when it comes to Operating system. Considering the latest trends and the latest Android versions, Nokia resorted to installing Android 8.0 Oreo on both of the Sam phones. Regular OS updates help improve the overall performance and reliability of these handsets.
This is pretty much everything that you need to know about these splendid devices. Now, what phone to go for? That’s a tough call because both of these phones have their own pros and cons. Nokia 8 is quite reasonable when it comes to the price tag and is packed with some pretty decent features. But when it comes to specifications, there is a huge difference. Nokia 8 Sirocco is better than Nokia 8 in every aspect.
But let’s not come to any conclusions just yet. Nokia 8 Sirocco just came out and it is quite hard to say how it does in the market. Nokia 8 was able to make its name in the market and had a great feedback but there is not enough feedback about Nokia 8 sirocco that can help decide between these two. For now, it is better just to wait for a little bit longer until more reviews come out about Nokia 8 Sirocco. We’ll leave the choice to you!
